Objective: Transform post-listening comprehension checks into an energetic, unpredictable group challenge using rapid reflection tasks.
Step 1: Set Up the Activity
- Choose your wheel design
- Copy and paste one of the Random Response Prompt Lists into the wheel.
- Have a short-to-medium audio or video clip ready to play (e.g., podcast snippet, dialogue, or news story).
Step 2: Listen First
- Play your audio passage through completely while students take light notes.
- Tell students: "Pay attention to the big picture, you won't know how you'll respond until the wheel spins!"
Step 3: Spin for the Challenge
- Project the wheel onto the main screen.
- Hit Spin to reveal the post-listening task (e.g., "Summarize the clip in 5 words or less" or "Ask 1 critical follow-up question").
Step 4: Small-Group Sprint (60–90 Seconds)
- Set a visible 60-to-90-second countdown timer.
- In pairs or small groups, students must work together immediately to fulfill the exact prompt chosen by the wheel.
Step 5: Rapid-Fire Share
- Nominate 2–3 groups to share their responses out loud (or spin a student/group name wheel to pick!).
- Optional Second Pass: Spin again for a second response type on the same audio clip to view the content through a completely different lens.
